Water

The Entity responsible for providing water at SBCC is Acosol.

Below you will find an explanation as to how Acosol generate their invoices.

  • Acosol invoices quarterly

  • Invoices are broken down by four concepts: potable water service, sewage service, a regional fee applied by Andalucía and a fee applied to the municipalities of the western Costa del Sol

  • Each area of variables is broken down by blocks (1, 2, 3 & 4) according to the m3 being consumed, where big water users can pay 4 times or more per m3 when they get to higher consumptions/blocks

  • The table below shows the escalation of costs between blocks differentiated by colour bands. As a simple comparable, just in between block 1 usage and block 2 usage the cost per m3 doubles.

  • If a property consumes the m3 within block 1 of potable water, the invoice will proportionally reflect the same block of usage for the other concepts (sewage, Andalucía fee and MMCSO fee) and so on for other ongoing usage blocks

  • They also apply an elevation surcharge per m3 consumed for properties between 250m and 400m of elevation (as reference, the is an estimated 375m of elevation mid way up into the urbanization)

Conclusion

You need to be very wary with the block usage you make within the very first variable, which is the potable water, as you will be proportionally charged for the same block prices for all other concepts, bearing in mind, for example, that even the water used for gardening will have an automatic sewage charge coming with it, even though sewage doesn't logically apply in such case, but their invoicing system doesn't distinguish what the potable water consumption is being used for and cannot know that such potable is only going into the ground and not through sewage, but this is how they apply their fees.

It's not like the petrol pump! This calculation is staged! Once you use more than 21m3 for a quarter your cost for each m3 will be more than double!
